Phosphate port, Laayoune
Morocco

Marine & Infrastructure

OCP's strategic investment to build a new port in Laayoune aims to handle the phosphate production from Bou Craa site.

Archirodon's involvement to this development started in 2019 to build the port specialized in hydrocarbon imports and the export of sand and phosphates mined from the surrounding region.

Our Engineering, Procurement & Construction contract includes the offshore berthing facility in the extreme conditions of the open Atlantic Ocean, protected by a caisson breakwater and accessed through a 3.2km-long trestle. The berths accommodate simultaneously 4 post Panamax bulker ships of over 100,000 dwt capacity and 250m length. Additional facilities include seawater intake and supply structure for the industrial consumers of PHOSBOUCRAA with a flow rate of 30,000 m3/h, in normal operational situation.
