Designed by the world-renowned architect Dame Zaha Hadid and constructed by ARCHIRODON, the 842m-long, 64 m-high Sheikh Zayed Bridge is an important landmark for Abu Dhabi and the UAE in general, linking the island of Abu Dhabi with the mainland. The iconic nature of the bridge has resulted to a unique geometry with every structural element being unique and not repeated.
Its curved arches mimic undulating sand dunes and feature dynamic lights that flow across its spine. This hybrid structure comprising central steel asymmetric arch ribs supporting prestressed concrete box girder decks is considered to be one of the world’s most intricate bridges ever built.
